Software firm announces major Columbia expansion
A Columbia-based software firm announced it is set to rapidly expand its operations.
TCube Solutions will be next new tenant of the First Base Building at the BullStreet development adjacent to Spirit Communications Park on the grounds of the state’s former mental hospital, the company announced.
The firm, which services the insurance industry and was founded in 2007 with the assistance of the USC-Columbia Technology Incubator program, is set to invest $1.7 million and create 100 new jobs when it settles into a new 25,000-square-foot workspace at First Base, company officials said in a release.
The new jobs would nearly double the company’s existing Columbia workforce, according to the S.C. Department of Commerce
Hiring for the new positions is expected to begin in the first quarter of 2017; interested applicants can visit the company’s careers page online to apply.
“Columbia is a thriving insurance-technology hub offering experienced local talent and community resources that continue to accelerate our business growth,” stated TCube CEO Sam McGuckin. “Specialized educational programs from USC, Midlands Tech and local industry groups help sustain a rich talent pool.”
“We’re thrilled to celebrate a great win for South Carolina’s rapidly-growing tech industry,” added S.C. Commerce Secretary Bobby Hitt. “With this announcement, TCube builds on the momentum achieved by this dynamic sector, which employs approximately 60,000 workers across our state.”
“The TCube success story is a prime example of what can be achieved when we invest time and energy in the talents of local entrepreneurs,” stated USC President Harris Pastides. “That was the mission upon which the USC-Columbia Technology Incubator was founded.”
Added Columbia Mayor Steven Benjamin: “The City of Columbia is thrilled to see TCube Solutions, a local insurance tech start-up and graduate of the USC-Columbia Technology Incubator, expand to BullStreet as they continue to grow into a highly-successful, innovative solutions provider. From their beginnings a decade ago with three employees, their creation of 100 new jobs and $1.7 million investment showcases the incredible growth potential of their company. Their commitment confirms that Columbia is indeed a vibrant, world-class entrepreneurial city….”
