O’ Christmas tree, here’s where to recycle thee

And, starting January 14, get free grindings for mulch, too

Christmas may be over, but perhaps you still have the holiday spirit.

Great! But, just in case your Christmas tree has given up the ghost, don’t simply toss it to the curb – recycle it.

From now through January 12 there are myriad sites in both Lexington and Richland counties to take your live trees to be properly disposed of, and turned into free mulch and material for your compost available beginning January 14.

That’s a “giving tree” win-win! Shel Silverstein would thank you.

The annual “Grinding of the Greens” effort is headed here locally by Keep the Midlands Beautiful. Of course, in this case, local recycling/mulching centers are for live trees only. As such, trees should come completely naked: no bags, stands, lights, tinsel, ornaments, wires, ties, etc.

Note: Wreaths, garland, and other greenery are not accepted.
