Michael Larone Williams, 28, of Gaston is now also charged with attempted murder, possessing a weapon during a violent crime, and possessing a weapon after being convicted of a violent felony, according to arrest warrants.

“A 16-year-old male was in the car with Pressley when the shots were fired,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said. “The teen was not injured in the shooting and provided information that has been important to our investigation.”

Williams was previously charged with murder in the fatal shooting of Kevadric Akeem Pressley, who died from a gunshot to the head after the two got into an altercation at a location along Harmony Church Road around 2 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day.

The incident was one of two fatal shootings over the Thanksgiving holiday. Another Gaston man died November 25 after the apparently shot himself accidentally in the abdomen, according to Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher.

Williams remains behind bars at the Lexington County Detention Center without bond.
