Lexington’s Saluda Pointe gets area’s 2nd Barberitos location

Barberitos has announced its second Midlands-area location just a few weeks after opening near the University of South Carolina campus.

The eatery is taking the last spot in Lexington’s Saluda Pointe development near Interstate 20, which also is occupied by Starbucks and Chick-fil-A. District Manager Lucas Messick said Barberitos is on schedule to open in mid-January.

“Lexington is a growing town and really an underserved market,” he said. “You can’t beat the location.”

Barberitos is described as a Southwestern grille and cantina and serves up tacos, burritos, nachos and salads. Catering for events is available.

“We are thrilled to bring Barberitos’ authentic Southwestern flavor to Lexington as we expand in South Carolina,” Barberitos’ Marketing Director Molly Huff said. “Our hope is to provide customers with fresh and flavorful food in a friendly setting. Barberitos is a place the whole family will love.”

Messick said Barberitos’ management team is looking in northeast Columbia and on Garners Ferry Road for future locations.

The USC location will hire 30 to 35 people, but Messick said 35 to 40 jobs will come to Lexington since that location is expected to have a higher volume of customers. Interested applicants are encouraged to stop by the Lincoln Street restaurant to apply for either location.

Barberitos will be the fourth tenant in the Starbucks-anchored development off of U.S. Highway 378.

Locally owned Beds & Such furniture store just opened its second location after five years in West Columbia. Garlitz Cosmetic and Family Dentistry of Columbia also is moving in between Beds & Such and Barberitos with its second location.
