Rachelle ‘Rusty’ Arazie, 64, gemologist for Columbia jewelry stores

Rachelle “Rusty” Arazie, of Columbia, died Oct. 30, 2015, after a long illness. She was 64.

A graveside service was held Sunday, Nov. 1, 2015, at Hebrew Benevolent Cemetery.

Born in Columbia on June 23, 1951, she was the daughter of the late James and Victoria Arazie.

She graduated from A.C. Flora High School and the University of South Carolina. Rusty sold fine linens on Main Street at Margos for over 20 years. She later became a gemologist and worked at jewelry stores in the Columbia area.

Surviving are her brother, Stan Arazie; nephews, Jamie Arazie and Harry Scharstein; niece, Melinda Scharstein; and other loving relatives, especially her uncle, Murray Setton, of New York.

She was preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Terry and Ed Scharstein, of Summerville.

The family would like to thank Pruitt Health Care for their loving care of Rusty for the past several years. The family would also like to thank her lifelong friend, Stan Ross, for his caring and compassion.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to American Cancer Society, 128 Stonemark Lane, Columbia, SC 29210 or to a charity of one’s choice.
