Rise Above It Coalition, local police departments to host drug take-back day this weekend

Local residents can safely get rid of unused and unwanted prescription drugs this weekend at one of three locations.

The Rise Above It Coalition in Lexington School District Two is partnering with BI-LO, the Cayce Department of Public Safety and the West Columbia Police Department to host a prescription drug take back Saturday. Volunteers will be collecting items at BI-LO stores on Augusta Road Road in West Columbia, Charleston Highway and Knox Abbott Drive.

People can drop off unused and unwanted prescription drugs between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.

The purpose of this collection day is to encourage the community to dispose of prescription drugs in a safe manner to help keep them out of reach of children and from contaminating the environment.
