SCE&G to close business offices in Lexington County this summer

SCE&G customers will have fewer places to pay their bill in person starting this summer.

The company announced the closing of several business offices across the state, including some in Lexington County. SCE&G officials said a combination of factors, including low customer traffic and operational inefficiencies, led to the decision.

“With nearby payment locations and the relocation of our employees to other positions within the company, this should have a minimal impact on services, and we are committed to making this a smooth transition for all,” said Vice President of Customer Service Sam Dozier.

Local branches scheduled to close effective June 26 include 535 W. Railroad Road in Batesburg and 256 Columbia Ave. in Chapin.

Customers can continue to make payments online and by mail or at another nearby office.

“How customers prefer to pay and communicate with SCE&G is evolving, and more of our customer interactions are moving online,” Dozier said. “What hasn’t changed is our commitment to serving our customers.”

SCE&G also offers a 24-hour call-in customer service line at 1-800-251-7234.
