Fashion boutique bevello opens doors at Trenholm Plaza
Trenholm Plaza has welcomed a new store for women in need of trendy apparel. North Carolina-based boutique bevello, has opened a 3,000-square-foot store next to Publix supermarket and J. Crew in the Forest Drive shopping center.
“We offer something from for all ages, all the way down from 15 to 70,” said Audrey Kerr, store manager for bevello.
This is the second location to open in South Carolina just behind Greenville. The company expects to open a third space in Charleston next month.
“We are a fashion brand that was started in Raleigh, North Carolina, and the Columbia market is very similar to our current college demographic. Also both cities being the capitals of their respective states, it was a very natural progression,” said Gena Shreve, vice president of brand operations. “We were looking for the right location in terms of neighbors and center and Trenholm Plaza fit that bill perfectly for us. It has taken us a while to find our way into our neighboring state, but with Greenville and now Columbia and soon-to-be Charleston, we have succeeded.”
The store features designers brands in several styles, and clothing is shipped to each store weekly to maintain variety.
“We carry everything from boho chic to glam. So it just depends on what you’re looking for,” Shreve said.
Kerr has been in the retail industry since her early 20s and has worked at a number of big-box stores. She said bevello allows her to be the owner of her store and to personalize it for the market.
“The thing about bevello is they allow you to grow, and they actually allow you to run the business. You really are in charge of the store,” she said. “They empower you to be a powerful woman.”
Clothing, shoes and accessories at bevello range in price from $30 to more than $200 depending on the style.
“Customers can expect to be welcomed into bevello as if they were visiting a good friend in their home. They will also find expertise in helping them to select the best choices for their particular needs,” Shreve said. “We offer a great selection of affordable and contemporary fashion in a relaxed, fun environment.”
Chan Namgong founded bevello in April 2009 after he and his girlfriend received poor customer service at a boutique they visited. The name “bevello” comes from the Italian word for beautiful, “bella,” combined with the word “love.”
The Columbia location is open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday and from noon until 6 p.m. Sundays.
