Perry Parks tapped as Ridge View High School’s next head football coach

Ridge View High has found the man who will lead the Blazer football beginning this Fall.

Perry Parks was approved Tuesday night by the Richland Two School Board to become head football coach, according to Athletic Director David Gordon.

Parks replaces Raymond Jennings, who served as head coach at Ridge View for the past 11 seasons. Parks comes to Ridge View after leading the Lakewood High football program for the past three seasons. He led the Gators to a 1-9 season his first year at Lakewood in 2012 but added to the win column in 2013 when the Gators went 2-8 on the season during his second year.

Parks’ third year saw Lakewood post a 6-5 record and earn a spot in the AAA state playoffs, where the Gators fell 42-12 to Hanahan High in a first-round matchup.

Parks also earned a high honor during his last season with Lakewood, as he was named the AAA Region VI Coach of the Year in 2014.

Ridge View officials have scheduled a news conference for 4 p.m. Wednesday to discuss Parks’ future at the school.
