Becky Robinson of Sew Suite Studio celebrated her Greater Lexington Chamber and Visitors Center membership Thursday with a ribbon cutting for her new permanent space. She found brick-and-mortar home in Lexington and opened the doors in October after a few years of teaching sewing classes at other shops and running an online-only custom embroidery store.

Robinson offers a little of everything for people in the sewing community — and for those who want to join it.

“I have sewing classes for all levels and all ages,” she said. “I try to offer a small-class atmosphere.”

People can choose from a wide assortment of classes at Sew Suite Studio including machine embroidery, theme projects like Christmas stockings and even private lessons. Robinson also hosts a Fourth Friday Open Sew where people can bring their works-in-progress and meet other crafters.

Sew Suite Studio is one of only a few businesses in the Midlands selling embroidery software and offering classes on how best to utilize it at home.

Robinson is gauging interest in a newcomers sewing class for people who recently have moved to the Midlands. Her idea is to bring people with similar interests together to help them become involved in the community.

“I know what it’s like to move around a lot,” she said.

Robinson has a varied selection of designs ready to be placed on just about anything from boots to baskets for a one-of-a-kind creation for those who aren’t do-it-yourselfers. She said the holiday season is always busy with monogram requests.

“This is a great place to get personalized gifts,” said Lori Moroz, president of Pine Press Printing on Ellis Avenue next to Sew Suite.

People looking for a unique gift this Christmas also can purchase a sewing class certificate.

More information on classes offered at Sew Suite Studio and a list of what supplies are in stock are available by contacting Robinson at (803) 957-0677 or by visiting Sew Suite Studio online or on Facebook.
