Former YMCA of Columbia administrator returns as chief administrative officer
The YMCA of Columbia has a new chief administrative officer for its five branches, but he is not unfamiliar to the community and YMCA team.
Ira Reasons served as the YMCA of Columbia’s chief operating officer from 2007 to 2009 before taking a job with the YMCA of the USA as resource director for Arkansas, Louisiana and Tennessee. Now he has returned to the Midlands where he will oversee the finance, risk management, human resources, property and information technology departments for the YMCA of Columbia.
“We are very excited to have Ira back in Columbia,” said Bryan Madden, CEO of the YMCA of Columbia. “Ira holds the same values that the YMCA stands for: caring, honesty, respect, responsibility and faith, and his YMCA background is going to be a wonderful asset to our Association Office.”
Reasons said his goals include supporting the staff and volunteers as they all “create real and lasting change and enhance the quality of life for individuals and families in our community.”
“I am very excited for the opportunity to serve in this role. The Columbia Y is known for the meaningful impact it has in the areas of youth development, healthy living and social responsibility, and I’m honored to again be part of that work in our community,” he said.
Reasons has spent 25 years working for the YMCA. He previously served as the chief operating officer of the YMCA of Southwestern Indiana and chief executive officer of the YMCA of Coastal Carolina.
The YMCA of Columbia association has five branches: the Downtown YMCA, the Jeep Rogers Family YMCA at Lake Carolina, the NorthWest Family YMCA in Irmo, the Lexington Family YMCA and the Orangeburg County YMCA.
