Lexington Medical Center welcomes 2 new doctors
Physicians specializing in family medicine and obstetrics recently joined the Lexington Medical Center network of care.
Dr. Daniel Shumpert is on board the staff at Lexington Family Practice-Irmo, which provides a range of care to patients from babies to seniors.
Shumpert is a magna cum laude graduate from the University of South Carolina. He completed his family medicine residency at AnMed Health in Anderson and also volunteered his time at the Anderson Free Clinic by treating patients at the community-based center.
The newest member of Lexington Family Practice-Irmo is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine and is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the South Carolina Medical Association.
Local women will be cared for by another new Lexington Medical Center network physician.
Dr. Nichole McDonald is practicing obstetrics and gynecology at Lexington Women’s Care, a Lexington Medical Center physician practice. She will be based out of the physician practice’s office in Irmo.
“Being an OB/GYN gives you an incredible opportunity to be a part of a woman’s life from her teenage years through childbearing and beyond,” McDonald said. “I think it’s important to educate patients so that they can make the best decisions about their health and be active participants in their care.”
McDonald is a West Columbia native and is a member of the American Congress of Obstetrics and Gynecology, the American Medical Association and the American Society for Colposcopy and Cervical Pathology. She is also a member of the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists, where she received the Special Resident in Minimally Invasive Gynecology award.
Both physicians are accepting new patients.
