M Grille celebrates first anniversary with official ribbon-cutting

Many restaurants hold a grand opening ceremony on the first day of business or shortly thereafter, but one local spot’s owner chose to wait until her restaurant displayed its staying power.

M Grille celebrated its first anniversary Tuesday in The Vista in downtown Columbia with a long-awaited ribbon cutting.

Owner Michelle Wang was presented with certificates of recognition by the Greater Columbia Chamber of Commerce and U.S. Rep. Joe Wilson.

A crowd of several dozen Chamber members and others gathered for the occasion, which Wang kept short and simple.

“It means a lot to us,” Wang said. “We made it a whole year.” Wang, who owns six other local restaurants, said M Grille is just getting started and will not rest after a successful first year.

“We’ll give people more, and we’ll give people better,” she said. “That’s our goal. We hope to be here for a long time.”
