Local advertising group wins national award
The American Advertising Federation of the Midlands is the best club of its kind in the country for the third time in four years.
The Columbia group won the National Club of the Year for Division III of the American Advertising Federation in a recent awards ceremony held in Florida. They also won in 2011.
Midlands Federation President Danielle Salley also won 2014 President of the Year for Division III.
The clubs of the year are determined by the total score of their entries in eight categories.
The American Advertising Federation of the Midlands won or placed in five of those categories:
- Advertising education – 1st place
- Membership – 1st place
- Programs – 2nd place
- Public Service – 2nd place
- Diversity – 2nd place
“When we started the year, I knew this board and our members had what it was going to take to win this title for a second year in a row,” said Salley. “I’m so proud to see them recognized for their hard work on a national level.”
The group was founded as the Columbia Ad Club in 1955, and changed its name in 2007.
