Artista Vista 2014 to begin Thursday with Arty Party
An event devoted to supporting art and artists in Columbia and beyond returns to the Vista for its 23rd year beginning Thursday.
Artista Vista will feature regionally and nationally known artists, as well as local talent, and begins Thursday with Vista galleries staying open late and offering free snacks and drinks for all from 5 until 9 p.m.
The 2014 edition of Artista Vista also includes a brand new addition to the three day festival: the Arty Party. The weekend kickoff event starts Thursday at 10 p.m. at the One Eared Cow on Huger Street, and includes live music and other performances as well as food and drinks.
A local literary journal, Jasper Magazine, will name its 2013 Jasper Artist of the Year at the Arty Party.
From 5 until 9 p.m. Thursday and during regular business hours Friday and Saturday, each Vista gallery will have performance art inside or nearby. Those attending will have a chance to chat with gallery owners and artists while enjoying different works.
Artista Vista “highlights so much talent in the Midlands and beyond,” said Sarah Lewis, executive director of the Vista Guild. “The Vista as we know it today has its roots in artists and galleries and we’re proud to support the great work of our local artists and gallery owners as the Vista continues to develop as an urban hub.”
The event is free to all. More information on parking, specific gallery hours and performers can be found here.
