Weldon, 86 and Gladys Gholston, 71
Weldon and Gladys Gholston died Feb. 1, 2014.
Mrs. Gholston attended Fairfield County Schools in South Carolina. Upon moving to New York, she became an active member of Memorial Presbyterian Church in Long Island, where she served faithfully on the church choir as a tenor for many dedicated years. She was employed by the Franklin General Hospital for 25 years.
She was born March 27, 1942, in Winnsboro and was preceded in death by her parents, Johnnie Johnson and Millie Arthur Johnson; brothers, Johnnie and Lonnie; and sisters, Naomi and Almenia.
She is survived by her daughter, Deidre (Gary) Grace, of New York; son, George McFarland, of Michigan; stepson, Andre Gholston; sisters, Dorothy Williams, of Virginia, Irene Lloyd, of South Carolina and Bernice Gibbs and Ruth (Thomas) Wilson, both of South Carolina; nine grandchildren; special nephew, Charles Randy Heath; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Mr. Gholston was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Queens Village, N.Y. where he served as an elder. He worked for the Ports Authority for over 40 years as a skycap.
He was born Oct. 14, 1927, in Virginia and was preceded in death by his mother and one brother.
He he is survived by his son, Andre Gholston; step-daughter, Deidre (Gary) Grace; and one sister.
The memorial service for Weldon and Gladys Gholston was held Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014 at Bostick-Tompkins Funeral Home.
