Margaret Davis Rogers died Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014, at the age of 92.

She was a graduate of the University of South Carolina with a business degree and served as an administrative assistant in the dean’s office. In Columbia, Mr. and Mrs. Rogers served Main Street United Methodist Church, Shandon United Methodist and St. James United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Rogers served as a board member at Killingsworth Home, an agency of the United Methodist Church. She was a member of the Huguenot Society of South Carolina, the R.S.V.P. Director of the Council on Aging in Columbia and a long-term volunteer in the chaplaincy program at Providence Hospital, Northeast. She was actively involved with Shandon United Methodist Church for 84 years and she served there as a stephen minister.

She was born July 1, 1921, and was preceded in death by her parents, George Bellinger Davis and Louise McAlhany Davis; husband, the Rev. Dr. Edwin W. Rogers; and brothers, Dr. Marion Davis and George Bellinger Davis, Jr.

She is survived by her brother, Dr. William McAlhany Davis (Carole); children, the Rev. Margaret Rogers dePrater (Bill), Dr. Edwin W. Rogers, Jr. (Teresa), David Lenoir Rogers (Madolyn) and Christiana Chumakov (George); grandchildren, Elizabeth dePrater, Margaret dePrater, Katherine Alphin (Scott), Edwin Lee Rogers, Edwin Lloyd Rogers (Sarah), David Ruiz Rogers, Lucian Rogers, Natalie Chumakov and Caroline Chumakov; great-grandchildren, Cora Rogers, Nolan Rogers and Jacob Alphin.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13, 2014, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel. Services will begin at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 14, 2014, at Shandon United Methodist Church with burial at 2 p.m. at the Kaigler-Davis Cemetery, Sandy Run.
