Levon Whetstone, 81, avid gardener who loved fishing

Levon Whetstone, of West Columbia, died Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, at the age of 81.

Mr. Whetstone was an avid gardener, loved fishing and watching baseball.

He was born Aug. 31, 1932, in Salley and was preceded in death by his parents, Lee Whetstone and Sara Mae Cooper Whetstone and his wife, Doris B. Whetstone.

He is survived by his daughters, Judith W. Harmon (Wyman), of Gilbert, Sara W. Stabler (Danny), of Swansea and Debbie W. Phillips (Steve), of Lexington; son, Ronald Lee Whetstone (Debbie), of West Columbia; granddaughters, Carol, Mandy, Amy, Stephanie, Rebecca and Hope; and great-grandsons, Connor, Payton, Matthew and Andrew.

The family will receive friends at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014, at Caughman-Harman Funeral Home West Columbia Chapel followed by a funeral service beginning at 11 a.m. Private interment at Clinton United Methodist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association 4217 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, VA 23060.
