Jonathan Reynolds Shedd, Jr., 89, Piggly-Wiggly retiree who served with the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII
Jonathan Reynolds Shedd, Jr., an active and dedicated member of Cayce United Methodist Church, died Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, at the age of 89.
He was an avid Gamecock supporter and attended The University of South Carolina prior to being drafted into the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII, where he served proudly. He retired from Piggly-Wiggly and was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
He was born in Columbia and was preceded in death by his parents, Jonathan Reynolds Shedd, Sr. and Ada Jewel Sapp Shedd.
He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Mary Shedd, of West Columbia; daughters, Mary Jo Tindall (Bob), of Columbia, Jenny Wichmann (Steve), of Summerville and Laurie deMoya (David), of Lexington; grandchildren, Tracy Hayes (Mark), of Culpeper, Va., Robbie Tindall (Candler), of Matthews, N.C., Marnie Melton (Jimmy), of Camden, Troy Wichmann (Tina), of Piedmont, Carla Shealy (Ross), of Cayce and Zach and Lexie deMoya, of Lexington; and eight great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014, at Cayce United Methodist Church with the Rev. Joseph James officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cayce United Methodist Church, 1600 12th Street, Cayce, SC 29033.
