Jewell Louise Steele Derrick, 90, lifetime member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church
Jewell Louise Steele Derrick died peacefully Feb. 3, 2014, at the age of 90.
Mrs. Derrick was a lifetime member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, former member of the church choir and member of Happy Hearts
She was born Dec. 14, 1923, in Lexington County and was preceded in death by her parents, Webster M. and Lillian Crout Steele; her husband, Carl S. Derrick; and brother, Heyward Steele
Surviving are her son, John C. Derrick (Julia Ann), of Lexington; daughters, Linda D. Keisler (Melvin), of Gilbert and Rebecca D. Rawson (Gary), of Lexington; sisters, Joyce (Billy) Neese, Grace (Alton) Harmon and Sylvia (Bob) Johnson; brother, Coolidge (Alvilda) Steele; grandchildren, Perry Derrick (Shannon), Jana Stanley (Grant), Craig Watts and Amy Monts (Travis); and nine great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014, at Barr-Price Funeral Home, Lexington Chapel. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, 2014, at St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church with the Rev. Bob Helton officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery.
