Nordstrom announces new Harbison store to open this fall
Less than a month after Barnes & Noble closed its doors in Harbison, a new store has announced it is moving into the space.
Seattle-based Nordstrom revealed plans Tuesday to open a second South Carolina store at Harbison Court in Columbia. Nordstrom Rack is scheduled to open this fall.
Also opening this fall will be a Greenville Nordstrom Rack location.
Nordstrom Rack is the off-price retail division of Nordstrom, according to the company’s description. Customers will be able to find a vast selection of on-trend apparel, accessories and shoes at a 30 to 70 percent discount. Nordstrom Rack stores feature merchandise from Nordstrom stores, Nordstrom.com and specially purchased items from top brands.
“We can’t wait to open our South Carolina stores in 2014,” said Geevy Thomas, president of Nordstrom Rack. “This new location will help us serve customers more conveniently in Columbia and we’re excited to bring our take of the ultimate treasure hunt to customers who are brand-conscious and love affordable fashion.”
Other retailers location in Harbison Court include Ross, Marshalls and Pier 1 Imports.
“The addition of Nordstrom Rack solidifies Harbison Court as the premier shopping destination for off-price branded merchandise in the Columbia market,” said Paul Freddo, senior executive vice president of leasing and development for DDR. “The Harbison Court location will be the ninth Nordstrom Rack store in our portfolio and we look forward to ongoing success and expansion with this high-quality retailer.”
Nordstrom representative Naomi Tobis said hiring for the new store will begin about 12 weeks prior to opening. In total, 45 to 50 positions will be available. Visit the company’s career page for more on hiring procedures or to apply online.
