Local agency launches Pay It Forward Hiring Drive

A local staffing agency is encouraging people to provide gainful employment for someone this holiday season through a newly launched hiring initiative.

Express Employment Professionals, located in Lexington, opened the Pay It Forward Hiring Drive this month with the goal of putting 100 unemployed individuals to work before the new year. The company is asking that hiring managers consider people for jobs ranging from file clerk to housekeeping to general labor so they can earn needed money to provide for their family’s Christmas.

“Pay it Forward to us means working with local businesses to help find jobs for unemployed workers in our community so they can earn a paycheck and help support their families this season,” said Paul Osburn, owner of the Lexington Express branch. “Our vision is to lock arms with businesses in Lexington, Richland and Calhoun counties to bring hope to local families for the holidays.”

Express will place people on short- and long-term assignments in a variety of administrative, professional and commercial positions. They can work for a few hours, a few days or the entire holiday season.

To “pay it forward” in a second way, the local Express branch is accepting donations for Lexington Interfaith Community Services (LICS) this month. LICS is a local nonprofit ministry that serves families and individuals struggling to meet their basic needs for food, clothing, and shelter.

Companies and individuals interested in participating in the Pay it Forward Hiring Drive can call 356-0304 or visit 205 Columbia Ave., Suite G to get started or gather more information. Those who don’t have a position to fill but do know of someone that needs employment can write a reference letter to aid the candidate.

According to company data, Express offices in the United States, Canada and South Africa put more than 367,000 people to work in 2012.
