A new restaurant will break ground in a matter of weeks in Lexington, and company officials expect the eatery to be open before the summer months.

Chick-fil-A is coming to Saluda Pointe, which sits off of U.S. Highway 378 at Interstate 20. The restaurant will join Chili’s, Moore Orthopedics and Wingate by Wyndham at the development site across from Corley Mill Road.

Company representative Mark Baldwin said construction is expected to begin at the start of 2014.

The restaurant is expected to open in mid or late spring of 2014 depending on how weather affects work at the site, Baldwin said.

Baldwin said it is too early to determine the new location’s economic impact but estimated the restaurant could generate 80 or more jobs. The company also uses local contractors and subcontractors when possible, which would provide more work for residents.
