Amazon to hire thousands of seasonal workers in South Carolina
Applications are now available for new jobs being offered by Amazon this year, and many are open to local residents.
According to a news release issued Tuesday, the company is set to create more than 70,000 positions across the United States. The jobs are said to be full-time seasonal positions at the fulfillment centers.
Amazon representative Nina Lindsey confirmed that thousands of positions will be open in South Carolina in West Columbia and Spartanburg.
Last year, Amazon retained many people after the holidays were over, and a statement from the company said there are plans to do the same for those hired this season.
“So far this year, we have converted more than 7,000 temporary employees in the U.S. into full-time, regular roles, and we’re looking forward to converting thousands more after this holiday season,” said Dave Clark, Amazon’s vice president of worldwide operations and customer service.
