West Columbia business recognized as top specialty retailer

Sewing machine experts agree: A West Columbia shop is one of the best in the business when it comes to customer service and industry knowledge.

At the annual Baby Lock Dealer Convention in St. Louis, the gathering of hundreds heard the announcement that Creative Sewing Machine Center of West Columbia had won the award for the top Single Location Retailer of Baby Lock sewing and embroidery machines in the nation.

Owners Peggy and Russ Ledford started Creative Sewing Machine Center in March of 2000. Even after receiving the accolade from Baby Lock, the duo couldn’t believe their luck as Peggy recalled how small the shop was in the beginning.

“I was just looking for a place to buy thread for my new sewing and embroidery machine,” she said in a news release.

Ledford added that she thinks the Creative Sewing Machine Center’s success is because of the excellent staff and customers. The store also prides itself on extensive training for people when they purchase their machines from the West Columbia location. Classes and seminars are offered frequently for those new to the sewing game or who want to learn advanced techniques.
