Marco’s Pizza now open in Cayce

An Ohio-based pizza chain opened its fourth Midlands location this week, and hundreds of people already have enjoyed the fare.

Marco’s Pizza in Cayce celebrated its grand opening Monday. To mark the occasion, the eatery gave away 100 free pizzas Monday and Tuesday. Trey Boyd, manager for the new location, said people couldn’t wait to taste the made-from-scratch slices.

“People started lining up those two days at 8:30 a.m. and we don’t open until 10,” he said.

Many were able to preview Marco’s on Sunday at a Family and Friends Night. Boyd said about 300 people dropped by to enjoy kid-friendly activities and free pizza as well as to meet the franchise owners.

Wanting to provide pizza lovers with something a little different prompted Marco’s to expand into Cayce. The other Midlands locations are in Columbia and Lexington.

“There was a need for us here,” Boyd said. “There’s no one in the immediate community that does what we do.”

Marco’s boasts gourmet pizza but still has the convenience of delivery. The new location on Knox Abbot Drive even has a drive-up window for carry out orders, an addition that isn’t yet featured at the other three area restaurants.

Since opening the first restaurant in Toledo in 1978, Marco’s has brought its authentic Italian flavor to 29 states.

Marco’s in Cayce is open from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Monday through Thursday and until midnight Friday through Sunday. Call 834-7033 for more information.
