Lexington County Sheriff’s Department teaming up with police for tasty September fundraiser

If you’ve been waiting for an excuse to enjoy a “hot now” Krispy Kreme doughnut, your chance to do so while contributing to a great cause is coming soon.

For three days this September, the Lexington County Sheriff’s Office and Lexington Police Department will again partner for the Cops on Top of Doughnut Shops fundraiser. On Sept. 25, 26 and 27, law enforcement will be on hand to accept donations from patrons at the Krispy Kreme stores on Knox Abbott Drive in Cayce and Sunset Boulevard in Lexington.

Cops on Top of Doughnut Shops is an annual event set aside to raise funds for Special Olympics. With the money raised, athletes are able to compete in state and national Special Olympics Games.

Deputies with the LCSD will be at the Cayce location on Sept. 25 from noon to 10 p.m. and on Sept. 26 and 27 from 6 a.m. to 11:45 p.m.

LPD officers will collect donations at the Lexington Krispy Kreme at 5594 Sunset Blvd. on Sept. 25 from noon to 10 p.m. and Sept. 26 and  27 from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
