Incumbents face challengers Tuesday for Richland, Lexington County Council seats

There are candidates running for seats on Richland and Lexington County Council. The Primary is Tuesday. Voting hours are from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.

Richland County Council District 1 covers the Irmo and Dutch Fork area. The incumbent is Bill Malinowski of Chapin. He is being challenged by Stan Smith of Chapin, for the GOP nomination.

Richland County Council District 5 covers downtown Columbia. Will Brennan and Allison Terracio will face each other for Democratic Party’s nomination.

There are three contested seats in Lexington County:

Lexington County Council District 2 cover the Batesburg-Leesville, Gilbert, and west Lake Murray area. Larry Brigham of Batesburg-Leesville is the incumbent. He is being challenged by Jeff Sarokas and Frank Townsend for the GOP nomination.

Lexington County Council District 7 covers Seven Oaks and part of Irmo. Beth Carrigg and Lloyd Higbe are candidates for the GOP nomination.

Lexington County Council District 8 covers West Columbia, parts of Lexington, and Oak Grove. Ned Tolar is the incumbent. He is being challenged by Charles Crouch and Glen Conwell for the GOP nomination.
