15 C-17 aircraft from Charleston fly over State House
There was a brief but loud roar that could be heard over downtown Columbia around 1:20 p.m. Tuesday afternoon. There were 15 C-17 aircraft that traveled over the Capital City while making a trip from Charleston to Louisiana.
The C-17s began at Joint Base and will end at Fort Polk to provide airdrop support that will be used for a training exercise. The flight is part of routine training missions conducted by the base.
The planes made their way over the Ravenel Bridge around 12:45 p.m., and continued their route over the State House about 30 minutes later.
