Woman killed in 3-vehicle crash is identified

Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the individual who died in a motor vehicle collision, Sunday.

The collision occurred in the 1300 block of North Lake Drive at approximately 7 p.m.
According to Fisher, Jessica H. Kirby, 36, of Lexington was pronounced dead at an area hospital a short time after the collision.

Kirby was the passenger in a vehicle travelling westbound on North Lake Drive. The driver of that vehicle lost control and crossed the center line into eastbound traffic, where the vehicle was struck by an oncoming vehicle, causing it to overturn.

A third vehicle also sustained minor damage due to the collision.

Kirby, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected and later succumbed to the injuries she sustained.
The driver of the vehicle Kirby was travelling in was transported to an area hospital in serious condition, and the driver of the vehicle they collided with was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The collision remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
