21-year-old woman identified as victim in I-26 crash

Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the individual who died due to a single-vehicle accident that occurred at approximately 12:45 a.m., Sunday. The accident happened near mil marker 92 of Interstate 26 eastbound.

According to Fisher, Ms. Sarah Helen Shelf, 21, of Simpsonville was killed in the accident. Shelf’s vehicle left the right side of the road and struck a culvert, which caused the vehicle to overturn. Shelf, who was wearing a seatbelt, was pronounced dead at the scene due to multiple traumatic injuries sustained in the accident. An investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol is ongoing.
