FIZZ – The Sound of Soda City, is a local internet radio format that is specifically geared toward the Columbia area. The type of music FIZZ offers is “Album Adult Alternative,” similar to MMG’s formerly owned radio station 92.1 The PALM which was sold in 2016.
According to Managing Partner Keith Stover, the type of alternative music played on the FIZZ includes songs from the 80’s through today.
“The key is to design a music mix that creates a casual, cool vibe and be different without being too obscure for most people,” said Stover.
He mentioned that he felt it’s music previously missing from the Columbia market.
“People have enough places to go for Bruno Mars and Justin Timberlake music. Now they can find U2, Dave Matthews, Imagine Dragons mixed with Vance Joy and Jack Johnson,” he said.
In addition to music, the FIZZ provides information that is tailored specifically to the Columbia area. Morning and afternoon updates are given by the ColaDaily staff, along with reports about concerts, events, and occurrences around the Midlands.
Summer James and Dave Britt are the FIZZ radio announcers. There will be more features in the coming weeks that will include regional music news and highlights, according to Stover.
MMG Executive Managing Partner Kirk Litton said the company is pleased to add the FIZZ into the exciting lineup of local offerings.
“We’d like to thank our local sponsors and listeners for making this expansion possible,” he said. The channel can be accessed at sodacityfizz.com, and is designed both for computers and mobile devices.
