Columbia Police investigating deadly shooting

Columbia Police Department officers are investigating a shooting in which one male was killed and three others were injured at a North Columbia home Sunday night.

The incident occurred shortly after 9 p.m. at 41 Samson Circle. When officers arrived on the scene, they found an unresponsive male inside of the home. The victim has been identified by Richland County Coroner Gary Watts as 30-year-old Cory Cornelius Jenkins.

After conducting an autopsy Monday morning, Watts determined that Jenkins died due to complications from gunshot wounds to the upper body.

Officers also found a second male victim inside the home; the 64-year-old male was suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper arm and was transported to a local hospital by EMS.

During the course of the investigation Sunday night, CPD officers learned that two additional males arrived at a local hospital with gunshot wounds. The CPD is working to determine if the two males who arrived at a local hospital are connected to the Samson Circle or not.

One male was injured in the upper body; the other victim was injured in the leg and has been treated and released from a local hospital.
The initial investigation indicates that all four men were involved in the isolated shooting incident, although CPD officers are working to determine the exact connection and motive.
