Mary Augusta Elmgren Jessel

Mrs. Mary Augusta Elmgren Jessel died Monday, February 26th. She was born on August 3, 1920 in Columbia, SC to the late Dr. T.A.W. Elmgren and Hannah Sylvan Elmgren. She was the widow of Dr. James Ryan Jessel, and also the widow of The Reverend Karl Frederic Eaheart. Mrs. Jessel is the last member of her immediate family of eight childred.*

Mrs. Jessel is survived by her children, Mary France Eaheart Price, Rebecca Eaheart Fleck (Dave), Daniel F. Eaheart (Linda), and Susan Eaheart Fucci. She is also survived by her step-daughter, Margo Jessel Ford; and her sister-in-law, Dorothy Eaheart Pennepacker. Her grandchildren are David Fleck, Charles Fleck (Rhoda), Michael Fleck (Natalie), Crisler Fucci, Nancy Price Owings (Darryl), and John Price (Laura); and eight beloved great-grandchildren, Gunthar Fleck, Chandler Fleck, Victoria Fleck, John Carlton Price, Caroline Price, Sam Price, and Will Owings and Mark Owings. She loved her nieces and nephews and they enriched her life by their love, care and visits. Her life was made richer by the devotion of her friend and helper, Mrs. Eva McLeod.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, T.A.W. Elmgren, Jr., Emil S. Elmgren, David O. Elmgren, Luther B. Elmgren; three sisters, Hannah E. Lux, Laura E. Perry and Addie B Elmgren.

She had a love of all children and owned the Irmo Child Care Center for many years. She enjoyed Lake Murray with her family and friends and was happiest with a full house at Pawley’s Island. She was active in many clubs and organizations.

A celebration of life service will be held at Incarnation Lutheran Church, 3005 Devine Street, at 11:00a.m. on Saturday, March 3, 2018.
