Play Ball! – Gamecocks play first game under new coach Mark Kingston – USC falls to VMI
The University of South Carolina baseball team begins its 126th season and the first under new head coach Mark Kingston, Friday. The temperature was in the 80-degree range as the Gamecocks welcomed VMI to Founders Park, first pitch was at 4 p.m..
The two teams also play on Saturday, at noon and conclude the series on Sunday, at 1 p.m.
The three-game series opens a 10-game homestand for the Gamecocks. South Carolina will play 18 of its first 21 games at Founders Park.
In the game, the Gamecocks’ rally against VMI fell just short. USC fell to VMI 7-6, in front of a crowd of 7,384.
