Coroner releases name of woman killed in I-26 collision
Lexington County Coroner Margaret Fisher has identified the individual who died due to a motor vehicle collision Sunday. The incident occurred at approximately 3:30 a.m. on Interstate 26 Eastbound near exit 119.
According to Fisher, Ms. Mia Briana Justine James, 29, of Orangeburg was killed when her sedan, which was traveling west in the eastbound lanes, collided head-on with a tractor trailer and caught fire. James, who was wearing a seatbelt when the incident occurred, was pronounced dead at the scene due to traumatic injuries sustained in the collision.
An investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol is ongoing.
