1 dead in condo fire, says Columbia Fire Department
One person has died in a condominium fire in Forest Acres Saturday morning. Three two-story condos were significantly damaged in the fire, according to the Columbia Fire Department.
The fire occurred at Point Arcadia condos, 6905 Cleaton Road. The condos are off of Decker Boulevard. The fire resulted in the closing of Decker Boulevard between O’Neil Court and Cleaton Road. Six people were also displaced from their homes because of the fire.
Crews extinguished the fire that was first reported between 8 a.m. and 8:30 a.m. Saturday. After the fire was “knocked down” firefighters conducted searches.
The Richland County Coroner was on the scene, according to the CFD report. The cause of fire is under investigation by the Richland County Fire Marshal.
