Columbia’s Famously Hot New Year with Elle King begins Sunday night

You’re invited to S.C.’s free party of the year!  Join tens of thousands of guests on Sunday night in downtown Columbia, for South Carolina’s largest NYE celebration, with a free, full-length concert starring GRAMMY-nominated Top 40 artist Elle King, along with alternative Southern rap quartet Nappy Roots and local hip hop hero FatRat Da Czar! End the night reveling under the biggest NYE fireworks in SC, over the historic S.C. State House.

In addition to the free, full-length concert by Elle King along with Nappy Roots, enjoy a variety of vendors selling food and drink, beer, wine and bubbly and the biggest NYE fireworks in SC, in a fun, friendly festival atmosphere in walkable downtown Columbia.

Now in its seventh year, Famously Hot New Year gathered ~24,000 people from 48 states and 11 countries in 2016. What started in 2011 as a NYE street concert and fireworks show has grown into a major statewide celebration, set amidst the capital city’s historic downtown dining and shopping districts, with multiple hotels, shops, restaurants, bars, clubs and nightlife within blocks of the festivities. Elle King is a GRAMMY-nominated singer-songwriter, guitarist, banjoist & bassist w/ a country, blues, soul, and rock sound, known for her hits “Ex’s and Oh’s,” “America’s Sweetheart” and the new “Ghostbusters” theme song, “Good Girls.” Her live shows are known to get the crowd moving, creating the perfect atmosphere for dancing in the streets at Famously Hot New Year in Columbia, S.C. She will perform a full-length set leading up to the midnight countdown, just before the Carolinas’ biggest NYE fireworks show.

Nappy Roots is a GRAMMY-nominated American alternative Southern rap quartet, known for their hits “Po’ Folks,” “Awnaw,” “Roun’ The Globe” and “Good Day.”

FatRat Da Czar joins the bill as local support. As South Carolina’s godfather of hip-hop, FatRat Da Czar’s music career has spanned over two decades.

Charleston, SC’s SonderBlue, alternative/indie pop rock band best known for their hit singles “Opinions” and “The Moon and You,” join as local openers.
