Lauren Traufler of Lexington has been crowned Miss South Carolina Collegiate America 2018.

Traufler will represent the Palmetto State at the national Miss Collegiate America Pageant to be held in June 2018 in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Traufler is currently a sophomore pursuing her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications at Wingate University in Wingate, N.C. She was crowned on Oct. 22.

She holds high ambitions with her degree, including becoming a speech pathologist or working in the sports broadcasting industry.

Traufler is very active within the community, serving as an ABA therapist for autistic children, a member of Alpha Xi Delta, and an Athletic Media Relations Assistant for Wingate University. Traufler was a recipient of several honors, including the Miss Timberwolf 2016 Scholarship, the LIFE Scholarship, and Wingate Transfer Scholarship. Some of Traufler’s hobbies include watching favorite football teams, painting, camping, and spending time with her dogs.

Traufler feels strongly that “the ways in which I am learning and growing as a young woman, and the opportunities that college is presenting me with and preparing me for” is a message that will enable her to encourage others in their journeys.

The Miss South Carolina Collegiate America Pageant is an official preliminary to the Miss Collegiate America Pageant. Throughout the state competition, the delegates were scored in three categories – an individual interview with judges (40%), evening gown (40%), and fun fashion (20%). The goal of the organization is to provide outstanding young ladies the opportunity to compete in a pageant system that has the highest of moral values.
