Lexington District One cancels Friday’s groundbreaking ceremony
Lexington County School District One is canceling its groundbreaking ceremony originally scheduled for this Friday, October 13, 2017, at 9:30 a.m. due to schedule conflicts and the impact of potential rain showers on site conditions.

Lexington County School District One intially announced it would hold an official groundbreaking ceremony for a new middle school construction project on Friday. The site for the school is at the corner of Beechwoods Drive and US 378 in Lexington. The ceremony will take place on that 34.57 acre site.
The as yet unnamed middle school is scheduled to open in the August of 2019 for the 2019–2020 school year.
The finished school will be about 196,000 square feet and should take about 20 months to build. It is designed for 1,200 students with the capacity to serve 1,500 students.
