Emergency lane closing on I-77 in Richland County, Friday ’til Saturday morning

The South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) will be closing the right travel lane and shoulder on I-77 southbound between Two Notch Road and Windsor Lake. The closing is scheduled for 12 noon on Friday.

This section is in a construction work zone. Traffic had been shifted to the outside shoulder while the construction of a new inside travel lane was underway. The soil underneath the pavement was found to be too soft due to wet weather and the pavement failed.

Following the 12 noon closing, the contractor will replace a 1200-foot section of the outside lane and shoulder. The inside travel lane will remain open. This repair is expected to be complete by 8 a.m. Saturday August 12
SCDOT urges all motorist to drive with extra caution through this and all highway work zones.
