Progress on Lexington 2 school construction coming along
There are two new elementary schools and a career and technology (CATE) center being built in the Lexington Two School District.
Cayce Elementary School is being built on the 12th Street Extension in Cayce. It’s being built next-to Busbee Creative Arts Academy, a Lexington Two middle school.
Cayce Elementary School will take students from Davis Early Childhood Center for Technology on Frink Street and Taylor Elementary School on Ann Lane in the Edenwood subdivision in Cayce. Ground was broken for Cayce Elementary in April 2016. It is scheduled to be completed in August of 2017.
The second Lexington Two elementary school is being built on Cougar Drive in West Columbia. It’s off of Sunset Boulevard, beside Northside Middle School. Ground was broken for that school in April. It is scheduled to be completed in August of 2018.
It will take students from BC Grammar School No. 1 on Hook Avenue and Pineview Elementary School on Leaphart Road. Both of those schools are in West Columbia.
Ground was broken for the career and technology, or CATE, center, in March. It’s on Bulldog Boulevard in Cayce, next to Busbee Creative Arts Academy and the new Cayce Elementary School.
All of the projects are being built with funds from the $225 million bond referendum that Lexington Two voters approved in 2014. Lexington Two consists of 16 neighborhood schools servicing five communities and more than 8,800 students.
