Shelba Jean Day

Shelba Jean Day, 60, of Newberry, South Carolina passed away April 15, 2017 at Greenville Memorial Medical Center Greenville, South Carolina. She was born on June 17, 1956 in Hampton County, South Carolina to the late Bobby and Estelle Gartman Lovell. Shelba was kind in spirit and generous to a fault. There was always room at her table for one more. It was said that if you left her house hungry, it was your fault as Shelba was an amazing cook. When she was not taking care of others, she enjoyed watching her San Francisco 49ers while drinking an ice cold Pepsi. She was definitely a firecracker. Shelba most loved spending time with her family. The times that they could be together were treasured. She will be missed by those she loved and those that loved her.

Shelba is survived by her children, Anthony Day (Lesley), George Day, (Wendy), Jack Day (Kimberly) and Jody Day; grandchildren, Dylan, Kaitlyn, Cole, Elizabeth, Nora, Cash, Austan, Alexys, Andrew, Colby, Christian, Brayden, Ethan, Clay, Blake and Addison; and a very special niece, Sissy Stanley (Eddie) and their children, Charlie, Erika, David and Drew; and her four legged child, Ginger. She also leaves behind many other nieces and nephews that will miss her. Additionally, she leaves three sisters and a brother to treasure her memory.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 32 years, Dover Day and two brothers.

The family will receive friends at Thompson Funeral Home at Greenlawn Memorial Park, 845 Leesburg Road, Columbia, SC 29209 on Thursday, April 20, 2017 from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Funeral services will be in the chapel of the funeral home on Friday, April 21, 2017 at 10 a.m. with Pastor Eddie Bledsoe officiating.
