Estranged husband charged in violent death of Lindsey Lee, Lexington Sheriff’s employee
The S.C. Law Enforcement Division has charged Jason Don Lee, 38, of Simpsonville with murder in the death of Lindsey Nicole Lee, his estranged wife.
She is the civilian employee of the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department who was found dead, during a welfare check, on Tuesday, in her home. The home where Lee was found is on Haleywood Lane near the Three Fountains area of West Columbia.
According to an affidavit, Lee broke into the house on Monday night and attacked Lindsey Lee when she arrived home.
SLED agents found Lee in Simpsonville at his home. He submitted a DNA sample and it matched crime scene evidence, according to the SLED forensics team.
Jason Lee was also charged with first degree burglary.
The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department asked SLED to investigate the death to avoid any conflicts of interest.
Lexington County Sheriff’s Jay Koon thanked SLED after Jason Lee’s arrest.
“SLED stepped in and helped us during a very difficult time,” Koon said in a statement. “Because of their hard work, Lindsey’s family can hopefully gain some sense of closure as they continue to grieve in the weeks and months ahead as they begin to heal.”
