Palmetto State Job Fair is Wednesday in Columbia

The 4th annual Palmetto State Job Fair- billed as the largest in South Carolina – is from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., Wednesday. It’s at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center, in the heart of the Vista- downtown Columbia.

It was formerly known as the SC Midlands Job Fair, but the job fair has become bigger and been renamed.

Last year’s event included more than 100 employers from across the state and it drew more than 2,000 job seekers. This year there is room for up to 125 employers and the number of job seekers is expected to be 3,000.

The Job Fair is a community event hosted by several chambers of commerce and ECPI University. Currently, The State of South Carolina, Greater Columbia, Greater Lexington, Newberry County, Sumter, Greater Irmo, Greater Aiken, Orangeburg Country, Greater Cayce West Columbia, and Kershaw Country Chambers of Commerce are participating. The event has proven to enhance the rapidly growing workforce of South Carolina and connect professional job seekers to South Carolinian employers, according to its organizers. The job fair includes on-the-spot hiring in some cases.
