The Board of Trustees and Administration for Lexington School District Two will host a groundbreaking ceremony for the new Lexington Two CATE Center. It will be on Bulldog Boulevard (off of 12th Street Extension) in Cayce. The ceremony is planned for 5 p.m. on Thursday, March 2.

According to a report in April, the CATE facility will include space for automotive technology; welding; cosmetology; horticulture, culinary arts; and many other training skills for the career-oriented.

The building will be highly visible from 12th Street Extension, in Cayce. The CATE center will be beside District Two’s new Cayce Elementary School, on the site where Busbee Creative Arts Academy is.

The CATE center will also have an auditorium with a dual use as a banquet facility- seating 350-to-400 people (and then an overflow area) that could be used for District functions that are now held at venues other than District 2 property.
