East Point Academy in West Columbia hosted a Lunch and Learn event, Wednesday, for members of the Greater Cayce-West Columbia Chamber of Commerce, Wednesday. There is also a branch of the school in Cayce. And plans are being made for a new East Point facility.

It is South Carolina’s only Chinese immersion public charter school.

After students performed a dance common in China, Kimberly Christ presented information about the school. for elementary age students.

East Point teaches Twenty-First Century skills because they are vital. One-half the classes at east Point are in Mandarin Chinese, and the other half in the student’s native language. It is easier to learn a foreign language before age 12, because students are in the process of developing their vocabulary.

East Point students excel in math and science, according to the school’s informational video.
