Two days before a presidential visit, workers at Boeing South Carolina in North Charleston, rejected an invitation to join the Machinists union.
An union organizer conceded, Wednesday, that workers voted not to join the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers. The vote against unionization was almost 75 percent.
About 3,000 workers voted. On Friday, President Donald Trump is scheduled to be at Boeing for the unveiling of the first Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner at the plant.
Under federal labor department rules, it will be at least a year before another union vote can be taken. Organizers vowed to keep trying.
