SC State Rep. Joseph H. ‘Joe’ Neal dies, colleagues saddened

South Carolina State Rep. Joseph Neal has died, according to Jaime Harrison, chairman of the South Carolina Democratic Party.
Harrison tweeted at 1131 p.m., Tuesday of Neal’s death.
Harrison’s Tweet: “Saddened & devastated to hear our good friend & progressive champion Rep. @JosephNeal3 passed away! He will be missed by all! #RIPJoe,”

Neal represented Richland County. He was 66.

State Sen. Katrina Shealy, of Lexington, remembered Neal fondly.

“So sad to learn of the death of Representative Joe Neal. Representative Neal was always a pleasure to meet in the halls of the Statehouse and always willing to work with you on issues,” she posted on her Facebook page.

State Rep. Rick Quinn also expressed his sorrow.

“I’m in shock over the passing of my friend Joe Neal. Our prayers are with his family. He has a truly sweet soul. He will be greatly missed,” Quinn said.
