18-year-old charged in connection with shooting of 13-year-old
Columbia Police investigators have arrested a teenager in connection with a weekend shooting that critically injured a juvenile.
Ada’ Quonza Conway, 18, is charged with Assault and Battery of a High and Aggravated Nature.
Conway is accused of shooting a 13-year-old boy in the upper body at a Wild Iris Court home yesterday morning.
The victim, who was visiting friends at the residence, remains in critical condition.
Investigators believe Conway, who also does not reside at the home, was with other youth when the shooting occurred. The homeowners were out of town and at this time, are not directly linked to the crime.
Officers continue to follow leads regarding the circumstances of the shooting, including what happened moments before the incident, where the gun came from and how it was brought to the home.
While the investigation continues, additional suspects and charges are possible.
Conway was booked at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center (ASGDC). All persons arrested/charged are presumed innocent until or unless proven guilty in a court of law.
